The park is also a fantastic birding destination with species like the African fish eagle, saddle-billed stork, and Abyssinian ground hornbill.

Return to the lodge for lunch. At 1:00 p.m., board a boat for a cruise along the Nile toward the base of the falls. Watch hippos bathing in the water and crocodiles resting on the riverbanks. You will get very close to the thundering falls — a truly spectacular sight.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will be placed in a group of eight people, each group assigned to a specific gorilla family. Then, with your ranger guide leading the way, you enter the dense forest in search of mountain gorillas.

The trek can last anywhere from one to several hours depending on where the gorillas are. When you find them, you get one full hour to watch them up close — feeding, playing, and caring for their young. It is an experience that very few places on earth can offer.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, visit a Batwa community to learn about their forest traditions, music and way of life.
